I gave somebody the finger. I hardly ever do that.
I was driving in downtown Davis, so I really should've seen this coming. I was about to make a left turn from a main road onto a side road (5th street onto D, for you Davis people). Here's the situation:

The guy was waiting at the stop sign, it's not like he just ran it, but when I got in front of him and began to make my turn, he starts to pull forward. (And he wasn't just egding out either, he went completely into the left lane of the road I'm on.) So I hit the gas to complete my turn and get out of the way before he hits me. And he's vaguely gesturing at me and glaring as if it's my fault. So I gave him the finger. Just kind of automatically. Surprised myself a little. Because I'm usually so preoccupied in that situation with avoiding an accident that I don't think of hitting the horn or anything.
It didn't help that I had just arrived in Davis after a bit of a frantic drive up I80 in rush hour traffic trying to get to Davis before 5:00 to turn in some DNA samples for sequencing. Pretty soon, we'll be able to do our own sequencing. That will be nice. I'm always the one who has to drive them up here, since everyone else lives in Berkeley.
The plan for this evening is to give blood - I was planning on doing that to begin with but I guess it'll redeem me some karma points now. But the guy deserved it. Anyway. Give blood then get a bake-at-home pizza and rent a movie in front of which I can sit and veg out. I'm thinking Connie and Carla. I heard it was pretty lame but David Duchovny's in it and therefore as an X-Phile, I'm pretty much obligated to see it. You know how it is.
ETA: scrolling down the friends list, I see the
shoebox_project update. I forgot that was today. I gasped audibly. haha. *is a nerd*
