I finally read Good Omens
Loved it. I heard they were thinking of making a movie with Alan Rickman but it all fell through. Was he going to be Aziraphale? I can't think of any other character he'd be.
Here's the cast I'd want if I were making the movie:
(If you think it's lame, blame the fact that I've just consumed an entire pizza and a chocolate milkshake with some rum in it.)
Aziraphale - Ian McKellen. I can picture him doing the magician bit at the party. The earnestness of the character seems to fit him better than Alan.
Crowley - Tim Roth, obviously.
Hastur - Jeremy Irons, again, I believe, obviously. The bit with the maggots would guarantee an R rating. Jeremy's voice would be absolutely perfect for going "CROOOOOOOWLEY!" in that scene.
Ligur - since it's a small role, I don't have anyone specific in mind but Gary Oldman could do a lot with it.
DEATH - the face wouldn't be visible. There'd need to be a voice.
War - I'm going to have to say Angelina Jolie.
[and here I pause to say to my cat: "Snaaape, that's why you don't put your head in there. Because you get your head stuck." She's OK now.]
Famine - I have a very specific picture of him in mind, with the slick black hair and the beard but I can't think of anyone who looks like that in real life. Maybe Alan Rickman when he was 40, but with his hair dyed black.
Polution - maybe the guy who's Barty Crouch. I don't know what he's like but if he's a good Barty then I expect he'd be a good Polution.
the kids - don't care. Preferably kids who can act but they're going to be about 11 so it wouldn't be easy finding them. At least the appearances aren't critical the way they were for Harry Potter. Whoever's Adam, one could dye his hair blond.
Sister Mary - Dawn French, maybe?
Anathema - Kate Winslet. I like her.
Newton - the guy who was David in Shaun of the Dead.
Shadwell - David Bradley springs to mind
Madame Tracy - can't think of anyone off the top of my head.
And Dog will be played by a dog.
And I'd do the wings like in Dogma except with a thing where the weight is partially supported by a cable or something so nobody gets any back injuries. And the bit with the flaming Bentley would be seriously awesome.
