lookin' for a poster
I've been looking all over AllPosters.com for a good poster to go in my living room. The walls are a mossy, olivey green and the floor is a pale honey-colored wood. There's a kind of jungle theme - I've got a fake bamboo plant (seriously, not as tacky as it sounds) and this chest of drawers, except mine has 7 drawers but I couldn't find that one on the website. I also have this rug. And a coffee table that I got from a store that doesn't have a website and a beige couch and a nondescript black TV.
Anyway. I'm trying to find a poster that'll look good in this room. I'm thinking I'll have to draw it myself in Photoshop then take it to Kinko's and get it printed in poster-size. But I have this image in my mind and I think maybe a poster like this exists. So that's why I'm posting. Maybe you've seen something simalar. Because what I'm picturing isn't my style of drawing. It'd be a fun project but I don't know if it'd turn out well enough that I'd want it on my wall. Since the last time I tried that was a mural of a Greek seascape I tried to do in the living room in my parents' house. It wasn't awful but I had crappy paint that dried too fast and didn't blend. After years of my begging my mum to let me paint over it, finally she did. So it's gone now. So I'd rather find an inexpensive poster and just buy it.
So, finally, here's what I'm picturing: an art deco-looking piece that's like a vintage ad for some type of alcohol, on a black background with a woman and a leopard. And the color scheme would be mostly black and gold plus a little red and white. Maybe some kind of palm tree thing in the background too. Here are some pieces that have images that I can use as a basis for the piece if I end up doing it myself, but none of these by itself is ideal: I like the colors in this one;I'd get this one except the red zebra is weird; too much red in this one, plus drunk tigers are weird; colors are too bright and the setting isn't right in this one but I like the woman. There are also a couple of peacock posters that'd work - totally different color scheme: this would be ideal if it came bigger than 11x17; I was quite tempted by this one but the colors wouldn't work in my living room.
Can anyone help me, then? Is there somewhere better than AllPosters to get (cheap) vintage-style posters?
