Aug. 18th, 2004 09:58 pmUrrgh. So tired. Uploading update to work website, since we still don't have internet access, from home. Where I have dialup. And it took me a while to make the edits because I had to change some of the graphics and I didn't have the originals so, like, I had to get rid of text and fill in the background myself. That kind of stuff. The company that designed our site had all these weird fonts. I bought one but there's another they used and I don't know what I was. So I used a similar one. I think it'll be fine. I replaced all the text with my font, so it's not like it doesn't match. My eyes were actually watering from staring at the screen.
Also, I had to hurry back to Davis because I had some DNA samples to bring in for sequencing and there were all these little delays on the freeway. But I got 'em in with 15 minutes to spare (before the sequencing place closed). We got a delivery today in dry ice, so I stuck my samples in that box. I was going to give the dry ice to J. because he likes to play with it - he's also inordinately fond of office supplies; I swear he's the somewhat older, male version of me - but then I thought the samples would do better in that box than in the lunch box with ice pack that I'd brought for transporting them.
There's an aikido class tomorrow. J.'s going. I could go. I'll bring my gi, anyway. That'll mean... crap, that'll mean I'd better get offline and call my mum to see if she can pick me up at the BART station. Because the last train for Davis (heh, Amtrak, in this case, not BART) leaves before the aikido class ends, so I'll have to spend the night at my parents' place. Or drive. But then I'll have to drive into SF. Unless I drive to the El Cerito BART station. That's a possibility. Hmm.
I just feel bad driving. The idea was to take the train so I'm not polluting the air by driving so far every day. I'm thinking I'll get a Prius. I'll wait a little because they usually have better deals when they're getting rid of the old model year cars, right?
Also, the train is expensive and it's only worthwhile getting a monthly pass if I'm going to use it a fair bit. Dangit.
Though it was a lot nicer today, not having to get up so early to catch the train. And then getting to work and not being all sweaty from riding the bike.
I raided J.'s mp3s. He has a bunch of songs by The Clash. I've discovered that I like them.
OK, going sleepy now.
