I had the impression that a lot of people would be taking time off this week but that's next week. I'm most likely going to take the rest of this week off. That's only two vacation days because we get Thursday and Friday off anyway. That's cool. I haven't used any vacation days so far because I've made up for time off by working extra hours at other times.

So. I got some stuff done with Flash. There's still the problem of getting sounds to synch up with the animation. I didn't realize, the book I have is LiveMotion for Dummies but I have LiveMotion 2.0 and it's different. The book says how it's easy to make sound files in the composition time-independent but that option isn't on the Timeline menu where the book says it is in 1.0. Dammit. I think making the sound a movie clip is a step in the right direction but I don't really get how movie clips work. Way does it have to be so damn complicated? Why does 3/4 of the book have to be devoted to telling us how to make basic shapes? Seriously, there's one chapter on how to click the shape tool and click and drag on the canvas to draw a shape, then the NEXT chapter tells you how to make the shape different colors. Then the part about making the sound synch up with the pictures is one sentence. Dammit.

Woo! I bought Adobe's own LiveMotion 2.0 guide. And it's an e-book so I'm downloading it right now. And it's got a whoooooole chapter on movie clips. OK then.

$@%^! why does the time for my BLAST search keep increasing? First it said it'd be updated every 42 seconds till it was done then it changed to 177 and now it's 300.

...I think that's short enough not to count as a work rant.

I want a sandwich. I got a good sandwich at Starbucks once. I went there on Friday and they had no sandwiches. I'll go again and see if they have sandwiches today. It was on focaccia bread with mozzarella cheese and sundried tomatoes and stuff.

In my new LiveMotion e-book, there's a whole chapter on making games. Squeeee! Can't wait to get home...

Comments: fair dinkum site u got here. as long as it doesnt turn into all the other 'dutch oven' sites that are around.

What's a 'dutch oven' site? A Dutch oven is either a) a large cooking pot or b) when in bed, you pull the blankets over your head and fart and ideally someone else is stuck under the blankets also. What does either of those have to do with websites?

You know what I'm going to do with my time off? I'm going to make a spiffy new intro page for Pirate Monkeys Inc. It'll be pretty simple and people will be able to click on a link to see a Flash intro or just click links to get to the Pirate section or the fan-stuff section. I know those Flash intros can be annoying so I want to give people the option of bypassing them. Maybe piratemonkeysinc.com/index.htm will be really simple, where you just select "Flash" or "No Flash" and from there, you go to the intro page where you can click on links to the various sections (Pirate, Snape, Sims, etc.) and it'll look nice and piratey. What do you all think of that? Because I need something fancier than what's there now.
