I haven't done anything on the poster or on my online C++ class. I'm at my mum's house and I've brought my book so I can start with the reading. The class is for people who are already familiar with C. I'm familiar with C#, which I figured was close enough. I'm not about to pay another $640 to take C first and then C++. And I like object-oriented programming. So I have to be thorough about the first assignment, which is 12 chapters reviewing C. The one big thing we skipped in C# was pointers and that's not too complicated. I just have to get used to using them.

I'm hoping I don't get a cold. My mum has a bad cold but I don't think she's contagious any more. I had a bit of a cough this morning so
I've got a coldbuster Jamba Juice smoothie and some Zicam.

I've been on some nice hikes lately: first, Point Pinole with my mum, which is flat and you can walk out to a pier to see the bay. Second, I went to Tilden Park with some friends yesterday. I'd never been on that particular trail before. I think it was the "Seaview trail." The view was amazing at the top of the hill. We could see all around the bay - from the Bay Bridge to the Richmond Bridge and beyond - and Richmond, Hercules, etc. on the other side of the hill. And we saw a lizard and a snake. The others marveled at how I can spot those things. It occurred to me later that I spend a lot of time while hiking looking down to avoid stepping on anybody.

Also yesterday I played the finger cymbals for the first time. They sound like chimes or bells. There's a class at the belly dancing school I go to where they teach it and I found out only recently that those classes were for anyone, not just the advanced students. It's really, really hard to play and dance at the same time so I spent a lot of the class just walking and doing the cymbals, not doing the hip movements too. I tried practicing at home but it disturbed my cat. Not sure what I'm going to do about that - the class is only once a week and I'll need to practice. I'll figure something out.

I checked my web stats: it's a little frustrating that the Harry Potter stuff is so much more popular than the pirate monkey stuff. The new quiz hasn't generated a ton more hits. The HP personality quiz continues to get more hits than my comics, even. Another thing that bugs me is that the first page of the comic is a more popular exit page than the final page of the comic. There are more people reading page one and leaving than there are people who read the whole thing. I can only assume people are linking to it without descrining it adequately so people click on the like expecting to see something else. Bah.

I still intend to finish Naked Snape II before HBP comes out.

Sometimes people ask if I'm going to do another Sparkypoo comic. I don't think I am, really. I used up just about all my Mary Sue jokes in the first one. I want to to a lot more with the pirate monkeys, though that's not going to be anywhere near as popular.
