[Error: unknown template qotd]I think I used to a little. The secret is to not make it such a big deal in the first place. I don't like how adults encourage kids to get worked up into a frenzy because of course it can't live up to that.
My mum used to put so much pressure on herself to give us a perfect Christmas. I ended up really hating Christmas for several years because it did that to my mum. Now we're both just laid back about it and it's great. We get together with me, my parents and my brother, exchange some presents and have a nice Christmas lunch. And we make cookies because it's fun. Well, we usually make the cookies the day before. My mum does her iced sugar cookies and I do a few different types. This year it was the cherry nut slices, jam creme cookies (I'll put up the recipes for those two later, they're nice), and gingerbread men.
AND my mum got a cakewrecks-worthy Christmas log! There's a plastic axe on the top. And plastic deer and flowers and whatnot. It's glorious.
