gmonkey42Someone e-mailed me thanking me for leaving feedback for their story telling them it was bad and that their character was a Mary Sue. Except I've never read the story and I've never left feedback on any story saying it's bad like that. I don't remember whether I've ever even left constructive criticism. I don't do feedback all that often and when I do it's generally, if not always, via e-mail and positive. If I don't like a story, I just stop reading it; I don't leave feedback.
Anyway, I don't blame the author for e-mailing me (and the "thank you" wasn't sarcastic, it was more like 'I didn't know it was a Mary Sue when I first wrote it and I'm trying to improve so thanks for pointing it out to me') but it's weird that they had my e-mail address. I do have my address up on my site, so it's possible that the author put me in their address book and just clicked the wrong line for "Send To...". I'm hoping that's all it is because the alternative is that someone's going around impersonating me and leaving people bad reviews for their fics. The author didn't quote a lot of the review but from the bits she (this being fanfic, I just automatically assume it's 'she') did quote, it sounds like the review wasn't very nice. And I really make an effort to be polite because there's too much rudeness on the internet.
...and if you're the author reading this, I hope you don't mind me mentioning it in my LJ.
