First, we have some dumbass who made a troll journal to say [livejournal.com profile] feminist_rage was just a bunch of PMSy bitching and some of the members said they agree with him her. And today we have several members of [livejournal.com profile] kissmyass_cosmo saying they don't get what's the problem with wearing makeup and 'sexy' clothes and shaving. Why did they join these communities if they disagree with the communities' basic, underlying principles? I don't go around joining pro-porn communities just so I can feel like a martyr and whine about how I'll get banned if I say what I really think (here, I'm talking about mainstream, exploitative porn movies and magazines, not written porn about male wizards, which is cool).

Do these people not realize what the communities are about when they join? [livejournal.com profile] feminist_rage sounds pretty clear to me. I don't get how someone could see the name, even if they skip the community info, and think it's going to be a place for feminists to talk politely about approved topics like worldwide female literacy or something, because women aren't supposed to get angry about sexism in our own lives. I don't get how they could think most members would agree with a statement like "well, maybe he thought 'nice rack' was a compliment." Not that anyone really said that, exactly, but there's a lot of excuse-making for sexism and claims that it's just a misunderstanding on the part of us oversensitive, brittle feminists.

I understand people wanting to troll but it's like these people are... stealth trolls. They join the community, lurk for a few months then make this big, dramatic post about how they feel so oppressed by a LIVEJOURNAL COMMUNITY that they VOLUNTARILY JOINED and sometimes they say something stupid that's specifically against the community rules and they get themselves banned. Other times, they're more careful or, depending on the community, the mods aren't as picky, and they don't get banned, they just start an argument but what astonishes me is that often, about half the replies are on their side. They say "yeah, I feel that way too, I've been lurking here for months, reading things I don't agree with and sulking about it." What a complete waste of time! Why do they bother?
