gmonkey42Snape was not Regulus' second when Regulus went to get the locket because if that were true then Snape would've known about the Horcruxes and told Dumbledore (unless he's evil and if he's evil then he wouldn't have helped Regulus get the locket). Then Dumbledore would have known the locket was already gone and he wouldn't have gone to get it himself.
Unless we buy the "Snape's a 'free-agent' and on nobody's side but his own therefore it's OK if his behavior makes absolutely no sense" thing. Which I don't.
