SNAAAAAAAPE! NOOOOOOOO! I guess we all saw it coming but not like that. Damn. I thought we'd get one more glimpse of him, from the Resurrection Stone or in his Headmaster portrait but no.
I totally called it, though, on:
1. the whole thing with RAB, Mundungus and the locket. The Kreacher angle was a nice touch that I didn't expect.
2. SCARCRUX!
3. SNAPE AND DUMBLEDORE PLANNED THE WHOLE THING! THE DOE WAS SNAPE'S PATRONUS AND IT REPRESENTED LILY!
[Cartman dance] ta-daa! ta-daa! How you like me now?!
I'd really hoped Snape would be allowed some measure of happiness before he died but no. I thought he'd figured it out about Nagini, if not that she was a Horcrux then at least that she had to be killed. The whole dead eyes thing was because Snape was doing Occlumency the whole time, right? For a horrible second I thought it was a hint that there was something wrong with Snape but then I realized what it meant. I really thought Hermione would be able to heal Snape and then he'd be there to sacrifice himself to save Harry in the final battle. But no. Ded from a snake in a giant hamster ball. And all Dumbledore could say was "poor Severus." Yes. Poor Sevreus.
Maybe I'll feel less strongly about it after I've had more time to digest but the ending was such a cop-out. Harry doesn't have to die because he 's willing to die. What? And then Harry doesn't even have to kill Voldemort, he just does his signature just-disarm-them charm and it reflects Voldemort's curse back on himself. The thing with Draco being the Elder Wand's real master came out of nowhere. How did it even know Draco existed? What a stupid wand, if it refuses to go to the person both who technically killed the previous owner AND whom the previous owner wanted it to go to. Where the hell did Draco even enter into it?
Also? Draco's wand liked Harry because they're sooooooulmates! Seemed like there was quite a lot of fanfic fodder in this one. I can't wait to see all the afterlife slash involving various combinations of Snape, Lupin and Sirius.
ETA: more stuff
Hey, could Snape really fly? That's cool. I thought he'd transfigure himself into a bat at some point. Like maybe that's how he concealed himself when he gave Harry the sword. How come flying is Teh Ebil Dark Magic? Do you have to eat some babies first or what? Is it that different from when Harry levitated the sidecar that he was sitting in?
My mum just pointed out something I told her earlier but forgot to mention here:
Why wasn't the last word "scar"? I liked "All was well," though.
