interesting stuff about Alan Rickman

gmonkey42Readin' the Rickmanista Review, I saw two things. First, that Alan was supposed to be in Red Dwarf (scroll down to #37). As Lister, apparently. Uhh, I love him and everything, but he'd be so totally wrong for that. Now, Rimmer, maybe. Maybe. But the way that's written, it looks like Alfred Molina was supposed to be Rimmer. Mmkay. Anyway, I'm glad they got Craig and Chris.
The second thing was all this stuff he's been doing in Argentina. Which prompts me to wonder: does he speak Spanish? Or did he have to do all the interviews via interpreters, which would've been a pain in the ass, particularly for someone who seems to dislike being interviewed as much as he does?
Heh. I liked this in one of the articles: Alan Rickman (el Snape de "Harry Potter"). El Snape. That's what I'm calling him from now on. Not the character. Alan. Yes.
...oh. He doesn't speak Spanish, if I'm reading one of the articles correctly. Unfortunately, my Spanish isn't so good either. But I'm pretty sure Alan and the interviewer are apologizing to each other for not speaking each other's language. OK then. But it's not clear (to me, because I don't understand all the words) whether the quotes they've included at the beginning are what Alan actually said - therefore he speaks some Spanish - or if they're translated. Edit: oh, hang on, it says in the first part, they were both speaking basic English. OK.
Ha ha! Same article - they're referring to Snape as "enigmatic" even in Spanish.
Goddamn, my vocabulary sucks. I've been thinking about maybe taking a class or something. Unless I can find a decent teach-yourself-intermediate-Spanish book. I don't think the tapes would be any good. I get the impression those are more like "so you're going to a Spanish-speaking country in, like, a week" crash course type things.
