liveblogging Heroes 4x16!
Jan. 18th, 2010 10:01 pmI'm not usually able to live-blog it because I have neither WiFi nor a TV in the computer room, but tonight I'm at my parents' house (I had to come by to get my cat after they cat-sat for me this weekend, and it was nasty and rainy so I decided to drive back tomorrow). And my parents have both WiFi and a TV in my room. w00t!
Long "Previously on Heroes" is long.
Mmm, oatmeal. No wonder Sylar's not here yet, she should have ordered pancakes. Yay, Gretchen! Aww, denied! :( Squeee, Sylar! He manages to be creepy in 6 words. That is another ability he has.
Eee, HRG speaking Japanese! Mohinder: "I broke a promise to a girl. I need to make amends." What? He's been off the show for so long, I don't remember what he's talking about. Hiro, nooo! At least we get to see Adam now. He called Hiro Carp! FTW!
Argh, commercials already. This is the disadvantage of watching at my parents' house: no DVR. I usually start watching about 15 minutes into the show so I can fast-forward through the commercials.
"Why Claire" LOL, that's very Bart Simpson. Sylar has completely gone off the deep end. Hey, that has proper capitalization, I don't think Sylar really wrote that.
Samuel's win-her-back fail: don't care. Needs moar Sylar! Though I do like that she looks reasonably age-appropriate for Samuel.
OK, not Sylar but Hiro's trial is good too. Hee, crappy-lawyer!Ando!
Back to Sylar, that's better. Dangit, quit switching storylines so quickly! Awww, lonely Sylar! ;_;
YES I called it! I knew he'd threaten Gretchen in order to get Claire's cooperation! Er, except I assumed the cooperation would mean helping him get Samuel away from the carnies, rather than getting his mojo back. But still. Called it. ...I don't think I posted it here. But I still called it in my head. Except the way I pictured it was Sylar talking to both of them and Claire going "nothing will make me want to help you" and Sylar goes "ORLY?" and then grabs Gretchen and swoops away with his flying ability.
"Let's get this over with." Ohh, Claire, bad way of putting it. LOLOLOL Sylar's diagram. Nerd.
THE PENCIL! I guess it's a pencil, not a pen.
"How did we end up so different?" You mean why are you not a content college co-ed, Sylar? Do you really not know?
OMFG, he really does misunderstand how Lydia's power works! I made this when the promo came out two weeks ago:

I did not realize how prescient it would be. Well, not the bit with Mohinder and Peter. Yet.
I am totally ignoring Samuel/Vanessa. He tries to woo her and she gradually comes around. Snore. Maybe I'd pay more attention if it weren't taking screentime away from HIRO'S LIFE HANGING IN THE BALANCE and EPIC SYLAIRE.
Crap, I need to stop typing so I can read the subtitles.
EEEEEEE Sylar in the trial! Wiiiiin!
LOL, Sylar's advising Claire to hook up with Gretchen. LOVE IT. Sylar's a huge jerkass but I like-
PENCIL IN EYE LOL FOREVER GO CLAIRE!!!!
Ahem. I like how he actually has some compassion for her. Like he identifies with her and sympathizes with her a little. Not that it would stop him from killing Nathan if he had to do it all over again. Because of the jerkass thing. But I like the little touch of humanity.
Also Claire can read him better than I can: I have no idea where Gretchen is.
And for the record, Sylar's scream this time was fairly manly, considering he had a pencil stuck in his freaking eye. I mean, if Sylar were tougher, he'd just pull it out and go after her. Sylar is not all that tough. But he does not have girly screams all the time.
Wooo, Sylar in trial! Killed hundreds? Niiiiiice. Hee hee, sugar shaker gavel. Dude, Jackie! Season 1 reunion! Sylar and Adam in the same scene! Ded from squee!
Awww, Hiro fail :(
Dangit, go away Samuel, I want to see how Sylar gets that pencil out of his eye. This could all have been accomplished in one 30-second scene, seriously. I like Samuel, he's great, but we don't need this much in this episode. The garden is really pretty though.
Their dorm? I didn't expect that simply because that's kind of dumb. Like, isn't that the first place Claire would look? Unless (and I realize I may be giving Sylar way too much credit here) Sylar has no intention of hurting Gretchen because that wouldn't do him any good - he just had to keep her out of the way while he talked to Claire and then his plan was he'd leave and Claire would return to her dorm and free Gretchen and they'd be fine.
Ooooh, Sylar's pissed off. Was that just his telekinesis? Or does he have some kind of wind power? He can do an awful lot with telekinesis, it's probably that. See, he won't hurt Gretchen if there's no point to it but he'll sure as hell hurt her if it'll help him. My prediction? Claire will kick Sylar's ass again and rescue Gretchen and they'll be all schmoopy. And Sylar limps away.
You get the way he thinks? I'm afraid he also gets the way you think.
OMFG, I just realized: BANDANNA! LIKE NOAH'S GQ BANDANNAS!
Awww, Sylar was right! Metaphors? Claire, you actually, literally, jumped off bridges. That is not a metaphor.
"Do you want to talk about it?" See, Claire, if you'd just said that, Sylar would have broken down crying and you wouldn't have to buy a new pencil.
OMFG GO SYLAR! YOU FREAKING RULE! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. He outsmarted me as well as Claire. How's he going to get rid of his powers? Take René's ability and use it on himself?
LOL, I forgot he stole her bag. That's awesome. Since they couldn't show it, because that would have given the whole thing away, I'll draw it for you:

Sad Sylarface! <3 <3 <3
I am so glad I'm DVRing this at home, I will definitely need to re-watch.
Aaaaand Hiro's resolution. Go Ando!
Adam's objection for-the-motherfucking-win! I freaking love this episode!
Dammit, why do the promos keep making Sylar look way worse than he turns out to be? Like they think it's sexy and it'll make us more likely to watch?
Hiiiiiiro! I'm conflicted about this: does he need to die? Or will a deus ex machina make the tumor disappear? I think those are our only options. And the latter is stupid.
Deux ex mommy it is. Right-o. I like Hiro, I don't want him to die, but that's dumb.
LOLOL, Samuel is even creepier than Sylar. YES, YOU'RE SCARY OK JUST PLEASE LEAVE.
Aww, waste of a good milkshake. Sylar would not approve.
This is awesome! Things are happening!
I don't know how Sylar will sacrifice his powers to stop Samuel but I guess he will somehow.
Wow, he's going to trust Matt to get rid of his powers? Epic bad idea. LOL, "I'm sorry, have we met?" Yeah, kind of.
The preview for next week: he will use all his powers? At the same time? Holy crap, I want to see that.
In conclusion, AWESOME EPISODE IS AWESOME.
Except you know what's going to happen now?
Sylar: Yaaay, I got rid of my powers! I'm not insane any more! Who wants some waffles?
Everyone: [runs in] Quick, Sylar, Samuel's gone totally apeshit and you're the only one who can stop him!
Sylar: Oh. Crap.
[rocks fall. everyone dies.]
