My first day at my new job went OK. R___'s out of town till Thursday and J___ (this is a different J, not the J from the old job) didn't have anything much for me to do. He gave me some papers to read on Y chromosome STRs and SNPs (different types of genetic markers), because we'll be developing a more comprehensive Y test than the one we offer now. So that took all morning. Then I spent the afternoon starting to build a database for orders and customer info, because now they just have it all in a big spreadsheet. Did I mention it's a small company? But it's cool.

I read the latest PoA review on AICN and they said "Alan Rickman owns everyone as Snape." Killer. And they said the shrieking shack scene is changed :( but that Alan, David and Gary save it. They rule.

Yeahh. Also I downloaded the SNL HP parody from MuggleNet. That's pretty damn funny. Lame but funny.

I've decided I need a shirt that says "Free Lucius" to wear when PoA comes out. I thought they had them at Hot Topic but I didn't see any. So do they sell 'em anywhere or will I have to make it myself?

Arrgh. I just spent about 3 hours making a roughly 24 second animation and then when I tried exporting it as a .swf, the sound wasn't in synch with the picture, though it was fine in Preview Mode. I had Real-Time Preview turned on but that shouldn't screw it up like that! How the hell am I supposed to make animation with sound if I can't see how it's going to work without exporting it?!

So what software do all the cool people (*cough* [livejournal.com profile] potterpals) use? It's like I've had to fight LiveMotion every step of the way to get it to do what I want. The UI isn't as nice as what I've come to expect from Adobe. I mean, I love Photoshop. So how come I can't show and hide layers as part of the bloody animation?! How come I have to make the layers transparent to get around that? There has to be an easier way!

It would help if I had a decent program for converting and editing sound files. It's no fun having to play the whole animation every time I need to check whether I've made a change in the right place or it should be one frame earlier.

*sigh*

Going to sleep now. Having accomplished nothing.
